Every child who comes to us is different. One needs to close a gap in maths before secondary school. Another is autistic, or has ADHD or dyslexia, and needs a teacher who understands how they learn. Another is home educated and needs structure. Finding the right teacher matters as much as the teaching itself. That’s why Lewis James has joined Tuition With Lauren as our Director of Recruitment.
What Lewis does
Lewis’s job is to match your child with the right teacher from our growing team of qualified teachers and school leaders across Kent and East Sussex. He’ll talk to you about your child: what they need, what’s worked before, and what hasn’t. Then he’ll find the teacher whose experience fits. Every teacher on our team is Enhanced DBS checked and fully insured.
- If your child has SEND or is neurodivergent: a teacher with experience of their profile, whether that’s ADHD, autism, AuDHD, dyslexia or something else, who’ll plan around their pace and their anxieties. Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis.
- If your child needs targeted tuition: a teacher who’ll find the specific gaps in English or maths and close them, from Reception to GCSE. Or small-group preparation for the 11+.
- If you home educate: structured, specialist teaching, whether you’re home educating by choice or because school stopped working. EHCP Personal Budget and EOTAS funding are accepted.
- In person or online: in person across Kent and East Sussex, or online wherever you live.
What Lewis looks at when he makes a match
- Age and stage. A Year 3 child who has lost confidence in reading needs something different from a Year 10 student working towards GCSE maths.
- How your child learns. Their needs, their profile, and what gets in their way. You know this better than anyone, and Lewis will ask.
- What’s happened before. If tuition hasn’t worked in the past, it helps to know why.
- Where and when. Where you live, whether your child does better in person or online, and when sessions can fit around their week.
- The relationship. Much of the progress in one-to-one teaching comes from a child feeling safe and understood by the adult in front of them. Lewis looks for that fit, not just the right subject.
How it works
- Get in touch. Email Lewis at tuition@withlauren.uk, or book a free 15-minute call.
- Tell him about your child. Their age, what they’re finding hard, and whether you’d prefer in person or online. You don’t need to send reports or a diagnosis at this stage.
- Lewis suggests a teacher, and explains why he thinks they’re the right fit.
- The first session finds the gaps. Teaching starts from where your child actually is, not from a fixed scheme of work.
- You get regular progress updates, so you always know how things are going.
